Welcome to my Man of the Year page
I ask that you join me by making a contribution to my fundraising campaign. Each dollar I raise counts as one vote and the candidate who gets the most donations is named the local Man or Woman of the Year. I am raising money in honor of The Boy and Girl of the year, local children who are blood cancer survivors. I truly hope to help find cures for blood cancers. All donations are greatly appreciated. Your donation is tax deductible and will support The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society programs, including research, patient services, advocacy, public and professional education, and community services.
Why am I running?...
On February 24th 2006 I was diagnosed with leukemia; a diagnosis that came completely out of the blue for me, given the fact that I have always been an athlete and a very healthy guy. I started chemotherapy treatment right away and I quickly reached complete remission which is where I intend to remain.
I made two very important decisions immediately following my diagnosis. The first was to continue to train and work out through and around my treatments, using my passion for fitness as a weapon in my treatment arsenal. The second important decision was to get involved with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society as a triathlon coach in their Team in Training program. It has given me the opportunity to share my passion for triathlon with people who are raising funds and awareness for my blood cancer.
I look at my situation and diagnosis as little more than a speed bump in my life, but others are not that lucky. In many ways I feel that I have been given a gift and the tools to serve and help. You can help me in my mission.
Running for Man on the Year is simply another chance to help control my own destiny and the destiny of many others. Please help me make not just a difference; but a significant difference in the lives of others
